A Famous, Unsolved Crime (Poem)

So a few months ago a coworker gave me a book she found at, who would have guessed it, a bookstore. It’s a book of writing prompts and as a writer, I love it! I have always been horrible at keeping things short and sweet and this book, with its limited lines for entries, allowed me to work on that. And since some of the entries are even smaller I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to try my hand at some poetry.

Here goes!

Prompt: A famous, unsolved crime.

Lizzie, maybe, took an axe

And gave her stepmother nineteen whacks.

The body was left by the bed,

Her father hit, eleven times, in the head.
